Kristin's Wilderness: "The story is powerful, the illustrations lovely, and the overall experience is close to perfect."
Jan Hamilton, Prince Memorial Library
Kristin's Wilderness: A Braided Trail by Garrett Conover, won the Lupine Award at the 18th Annual Reading Round Up held at the Augusta Civic Center April 12, 2007.
The Lupine Award is presented by the Youth Services Section Interest Group of the Maine Library Association to a living author or illustrator who is a resident of Maine or whose work has a Maine focus, and was published during the previous year.
Kristin's Wilderness won in the Juvenile/Young Adult category and was selected from a pool of 70 books published during 2006 and nominated for the honor.
"I can't say enough how much Kristin's Wilderness touched us. While we look at many - about 70 books each year - it is not often that one gets the sense as soon as it is taken from the box that it is something very special. Kristin's Wilderness is the most remarkable book that I have read since being on the committee."
